INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Sports Corp is kicking off a big weekend with the ‘IN the Game’ Block Party, a free 2-day event on Virginia Plaza during the 2020 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament from March 13-14.

The block party is an all all-ages, public event presented by Chreece, Indy Brew Bus, Sam Ash Music Stores, and Indiana Sports Corp. The event will feature live music and DJ sets on the former patio of Scotty’s Brewhouse downtown at 1 Virginia Avenue. The Indy Brew Bus will also be on site to provide a cash bar of local brews and drinks to those 21+. The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 13 and from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m on March 14.

“As with every major event, it’s about more than the game,” said Ryan Vaughn, President of Indiana Sports Corp. “This is a great opportunity for us to show off some local and regional talent to thousands of visitors from across the county and to provide locals with an exciting activation they can be proud to host.”

Six live music acts will perform, including four from Indianapolis. Live acts include Clint Breeze & the Groove, Dem Atlas, Chicago Loud 9, Mudkids, Oreo Jones, and John Stamps. The event will also feature DJ sets from Indiana Jones, Gabby Love, GNO, KNAGS, and more.

Since the launch of the Indy Music Strategy, bringing local music to major events such as the Big Ten Basketball Tournament, Pacers games, and conventions has become a focus area for Indianapolis event organizers. Chreece Presents, a local hip-hop promotions company, was hired by the Indiana Sports Corps to organize the line-up and programming for the block party.

“Ever since we got involved with the Indy Music Strategy, we’ve been brainstorming new ways to grow opportunities for local hip hop artists,” said Chreece Founder Oreo Jones. “We want Indy to be known as a city with a great music scene and it’s events like the Big Ten Basketball Tournament that allow us to promote Indy’s talent for both locals and visitors.”

The Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament is expected to bring thousands of people to downtown Indianapolis. To learn more about the tournament and other ancillary events visit IndianaSportsCorp.org.
