Anne Marie Tiernon to be Recognized at 2024 State of Sports with Inspiring Sports Storyteller Award

Tiernon joins 2024 Pathfinder Award Recipient Rick Fuson as honorees at annual event.

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Sports Corp announced on Wednesday that Anne Marie Tiernon will be recognized with the Inspiring Sports Storyteller Award at its annual State of Sports presented by Indiana University on September 10 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. State of Sports is an annual fundraising program for Indiana Sports Corp and highlights its mission of impacting the community through sports.

“Anne Marie Tiernon has told the stories of our city and state for nearly 30 years and has covered countless Indiana athletes around the world as we saw this summer with the Olympics in Paris,” said Patrick Talty, president of Indiana Sports Corp. “We are thrilled to recognize her with the Inspiring Sports Storyteller Award for her iconic career.”

Tiernon grew up in Fort Wayne and has worked in the Indianapolis television market for 29 of her illustrious 35-year television career, including the last 20 at WTHR-TV. The Emmy-award winner has traveled internationally to cover Indiana athletes pursuing their dreams at six Olympic Games, including most recently in Paris this past summer following her coverage of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming hosted at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Her work has been recognized with numerous Lower Great Lake Emmy Awards, National Headliner Awards for Health/Science Reporting, and the Regional Edward R. Murrow Award. Anne Marie won a National Media Award for Local Television from Mental Health America, has received honors for live breaking news reporting from the Associated Press, and was named Journalist of the Year Award by the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.

Previously, the organization announced that it will also honor former Pacers Sports & Entertainment CEO Rick Fuson with the distinguished Pathfinder Award during the event.
